It all started with the wish to
get a dog.
At this time the Breed wasn´t even defined. But through lots of Show-visites,
Information about Breed, Literature and Breeders we came costantly closer.
Then suddenly the Decision was clear, our new Dog was to be a Leonberger.
Regreted? Unfortunately very soon, because our first Dog had a Characterfailure
(Anxiousness). Such a lovely Boy, who came to us at about ten Weeks old in
April 1993. But his Anxiousness, which didn´t show among his siblings,
became a real Handicap in our daily life. At Home the loveliest and best Companion,
often a strain
during every day Situations outside. A Bitch out of the same Litter, that
we got to know some time later turned out even worse. Her owners where very
unhappy with there Situation, but they didn´t do a lot to change it
for the better. We didn´t give up and worked over Years with our Dog
(Training in a Dog-Training-Club, where next to Obediencetraining we worked
with large groups of people).
At this Point - our thankfull Praise to our Dog-Training-Club "BG.Niederrhein"
in Hünxe-Krudenburg, where we all (Human and Dog) received al lot of
Help and Advice. At the beginning of our Training our Dog just wanted to run
of, but later he realy enjoyed it. Every Thursday when we went to our Training-Course
he showed his Enthusiasm. It was also in Krudenburg where he passes his Final
Exames.
Fear and Anxiousness is Stress
- and Stress causes Illness. Even before he was four years old, Carlos became
sick with Cancer. A very malicicious, scattering Tumor in his right Frontleg,
the Prognosis war extremly bad.
We loved this Dog and didn´t give in. Several Operations, Treatment
by alternativ medical Methodes gave him a good Quality of Live until the End.
Because he loved to be among other Dogs, and to save us from beeing without
a Leo all of a sudden, we decided to get a pup.
Now being Members of the Leonberger-Club for quite some Time, and with more
Expereance, we spend a lot of thoughts during the Search for a Breeder to
make sure to get a charakteristikly indisputable Dog this time.
After a few visits to the Breeder we where certain, this is the pup we take.
The new Leo-Boy came when he was eight Weeks old. "Desperado von Equitania
(called-Janosch) moved into the Becker-Home. Senior-Dog Carlos (he loved Puppies)
was absolutely delighted - and so where we.
Our two Leos had nearly two wonderfull years together befor Carlos left us
in September 1998 - not even six years old.
Our Janosch is not a Show-Dog, he got some good Assessments when he was young,
but he didn´t like the Shows. Therefor he showed extreme Enthusiasmn
at the Dog-Training-Club. Twice he took the Final-Exames, his Enthusiasmn
is not typical for a Leonberger, we often heared, he remindes people more
of a german Shepherd dog.
But most importand of all, he brought back our Belive in the Leonberger itselve.
It is prohibitive to have such a relaxed and charming Dog.
Because we liked our life with two dogs, we decides to get a Playmate for
Janosch. On our way to Scandinavia we choose a six week old pup, witch we
picked up after our Holiday, three weeks later. We had about three hours time
to choose one out of the litter, that was enough.
With Niklas vom Löwengarten we again had a stroke of luck. He has a different
Nature to Janosch, but like him he is a superb and lovely family-Dog. Niklas
gave us a new Hobby: "The Dog-Show".
Successfull as a Youngster, he continued. And he is having Fun doing the Shows.
Every time we pack the trolley for a Show he gets exited, because he knowes
where we are going. He then is allways around us and in our way, just to make
sure we will not forget to take him. The Shows are fun for Niklas and for
us, we always meet nice
Leonberger-Owners from all over the World. Many Friendships started at these
Shows, because we have one Thing in Common - Our Love and Passion for our
Leonbergers.
